Aside from a number of bug fixes, these add-on releases also have several new features and improvements:
  • The Media Gallery and Resource Manager support the REST API, push notifications, reactions, content bookmarking, and auto-read marking of alerts where relevant.
  • The Media Gallery has re-introduced a configurable limit for the max length of media/album titles and descriptions and an option to control the default privacy setting of albums (defaulting to public).
Some of the changes in XFMG 2.0.5 include:
  • Add some missing uninstall steps
  • When viewing a reported media item, show the media item.
  • Fix typo in viewModeratedAlbums permission check.
  • When editing an album/media item ensure that the description can be empited.
  • Reduce query count when viewing albums/media items.
  • When viewing an album, fix selected filters not displaying when filters are applied.
  • Avoid content breaking out of the album/media item view columns.
  • Display a more graceful error when a custom thumbnail upload fails for some reason.
  • Prevent album/media item inline mod checkboxes showing through certain other elements.
  • Ensure users without permission to add comments can still access certain comment links.
  • Use the "full" URL when handling links used in the "SimpleHtml" renderer (mostly emails).

Today, we have released XenForo Media Gallery 2.0.4, a maintenance release for our gallery add-on. This release primarily targets bug fixes and other small improvements.

Some of the changes include:
  • Ensure hourly and daily clean up crons are running at the correct time.
  • Fix part of the Setup when upgrading from very old versions to version 2.
  • Fix an issue which meant that embed thumbnails were not rebuilt.
  • Make it clearer when adding media where you are adding media to.
  • Do not display option to send alert when performing certain actions on only your own media/albums/comments.
  • Display the correct album owner stats when viewing an album.
  • Add missing "move album" alert template.
  • Fix display of certain structured data for media items.
  • Fix some issues and implement some additional flexibility in the responsive settings of the media/album slider widget.
  • Add new "Add without approval" permission so users can have their media moderated on creation either globally, per user or per category.
  • Ensure the option to move media to an album is available, even if "Allow personal albums" is disabled.

  • Fix an issue which prevented YouTube embeds from retrieving the thumbnail if it is configured to start playing at a specific time.
  • Do not attempt to create thumbnails using FFmpeg if it isn't available/configured.
  • Ensure quotes are stripped from comment search result snippets.
